This elephant carries a palm nut in its trunk. More than that the figure is decorated with the Adinkra Symbol “Akokonan” at its back. Akokonan means “The foot of a hen”. It is a symbol for nurturing coupled with discipline. This Adinkra is from the proverb, “Akoko nan tia ba na enkum ba,” literally, “The foot of a hen steps on the child (chick) but it doesn’t kill the child (chick).”
Our items are all handmade and therefore every single one is unique. Colour, size and/or motif may vary slightly, which in our eyes is a sign of quality and reflects the artistic signature of each individual artist.
