Mayestic Elephant (Gye Nyame)

The mayestic elephant carries a palm nut in its trunk, which is its favourite food.

The plated aluminum on its back forms the Adinkra symbol “Gye Nyame”. Gye Nyame means “Except God.” It expresses the omnipotence and supremacy of God in all affairs. Gye Nyame is arguably the most popular Adinkra symbol. It expresses the deep faith the Akans have in the Supreme Being.
